I did a lot of research trying to find out the correct way to make an good KH standard. I'm confident that I can make a good standard using baking soda or sodium carbonate.

But

Your suggestion to use the liquid lab certified standard was the best idea of all.
Randy over at Reef Central also suggested it to me but I just overlooked it.

I'm using the lab certified KH standard and diluting it with a few class A volumetric flask, so there isn't any question as to whether the standard right.

Bill when you do this, make sure to rinse out every last bit of the ref solution vials.

Use the KH diluted solution with a pippette and rinse the vials and make sure the rinse water goes into the KH diluted solution.

So you pour the 10ml vial into the 3.488 liters of DI water(total= 3.498).
Mix, then take a 10-20ml amount of the this 3.498 4 KH water anmd rinse out any leftovers in the vial and return that rinse water to the 4 KH solution.

This gets every last bit of the 10ml ref solution into the 3.488 liters of DI water.

If you lose say 0.25 mls, that's a lot since the ref solution is so concentrated and such a small volume, so make sure to get every bit, or submersed the vial into the 3.488 liters of DI water and rinse that way(Na2CO3 is not toxic or hazardous etc).

You do not need Class A volumetric glassware at this scale, it's not going to provide that much accuracy vs a Class B.

Reef central needs to realize that KH from CO3's in FW is quite different that KH in marine systems. They have multiple components in their alkalinity, it's not all carbonate.

So that is not a good standard for them.
They likely would be better off using a digital tritrator etc.

Making up an accurate alk ref solution for them is tougher.
Most alk test are total alkalinity test, not carbonate specific, hence our problem, but works fairly well in a marine tank.

Our issue is highly specific to carbonate only.
The other alk species confound our FW plant/CO2 readings for a lot of folks using KH test kits.

The Salty folks may still use the KH ref solution and drop checkers to measure CO2 in their tanks though.

But they generally are less concerned about that and they would need a higher pH indicator(7.0-8.2 range) as few add 20-30ppm of CO2
