    New To Planted Aquarium

    Hi all,

Guess ill start with what i have.

    29 gal tank
    Eheim classic 2213
Nova lighting fixture with one 24w pink tube and one 24w 10000k tube
1.5" of peat and 1" of eco-complete subtrate

I decided to be more serious with my tank, and thought that a low tech low light excel tank would be siutable for me. Just replaced my subtrate with what i've listed above over the weekend and planted the heck out off my tank.today, i've dosed the tank with 3 caps of excel, 1/8 tsp of seachem equilbrium and i've pushed a stud of miracle grow house plant food spike into my subtrate. I know the latter sounds funny. I live in BC and KNO3 is not available up here. So we'll see what happen to my tank.

Are my firtilizers sufficient?? Should i replaced the miracle grow with something else?

I nedd suggestions on things i should tweak, maintenance, and firt dosing

    Thank you all in advance

    Cheers

Just found out that miracle grow is not really suitable for my tank. So now im down to just seachem excel and equillibrium. What else can i add into my dosing routine. Please help. Again KNO3 is not commercially available up here.

    Cheers

    Use Ca(NO3)2 and K2SO4 then.

Well, i've looked everywhere (home depot, canadian tires and the likes) with no luck. The one place that have them wont sell it to me coz they might loose their liscence if it's for residential use. So i guess ill go seachem all out. I saw a dealer that sells 500ml of seachem nitrogen, phosporus, and potassium for $9.99 a bottle. But before make the purchase, can anyone comment on this route please. Thanks in advance.

  6. Check a hydroponics store, as they should carry the right fertilizers. Unless you live quite rural, you should have one close (this is BC, we're talking about).

Otherwise, Canadian aquatics can ship you some.
