    If you can, place something under the rug also, something with feet etc and a rubber type of mat, prevents mold and mashing of the rug. I'd also pull it away from the corner, tanks should be placed in the middle or 1/3rd away from either side wall.
    Spending all the time $ and you lose an entire side of the tank and access.

    I try to avoid that as much as possible.

    Unfortunately I dont have the room to move it much further..there are stairs to the right a few feet away. It isn't the ideal place, I agree, but I don't have any better options. I will hopefully be moving to a new home in a year or two where it will get a much better location. I won't need much access to the left side, filter hoses etc. have access through the top of the cabinet. Thank you for the suggestion on the mat. That is a good idea. I have an idea for something. What about an exercise mat? something that is firm, not the neoprene type mat...something that is more like a rubber jump mat.

    I added a mat. I used a mat intended for under an exercise bike. It works well.

    All my plants should be here this week, so I hope to plant next weekend.
