    Picnic spot, nano aquascape

    Hello guys.
I have made this nano for a friend of mine and wanted to share it here. I hope you enjoy it.
It is a low tech, low light non CO2, 40L nano.
It has been running for 6 months by now in my workshop.

I've become so accustomed to seeing cardinal tetras in such large aquariums that seeing them in a tank that makes them look that big is a little..different. I do like the simplicity of the design, however.

    1. Watt [ wot ]: noun -- the SI unit of power, equivalent to one joule per second and equal to the power in a circuit in which a current of one ampere flows across a potential difference of one volt.
    2. Per [ pur; unstressed per ]: preposition -- for each; for every.
    3. Gallon [ gal-uhn ]: noun -- a common unit of capacity in English-speaking countries, equal to four quarts.
What does this have to do with growing plants?

Always such lush growth, Aquadream. I am jealous of your horticulture skills.

I like it, simple idea and well executed.

This was supposed to be a very cheap set up and it did work that way. To be honest I did't know if the Lilaeopsis will grow in such set up, but I had it and just decided what the hell, I'll give it a try. It worked.
On the picture it looks very nice, but it is small, very small. Just about an inch or so.
Good thing about non CO2 low light set ups is that you can leave them month at a time without water change or much maintenance and they are do not get algae problems any near as the high techy tanks.

Bolbitus usage is a good idea, rarely see it in a nano.

I do actually. I use Easy Life Profito recommended dose, Easy Carbo 1/3 of recommeded dose. At water chages I set the K+ levels with K2CO3 to about 20ppm and... yea, that's it. Nitrogen and Phosphorus comes from fish waiste only.

Would you like to tell us a little more about the equipment you chose to use for lighting, filtering and heating this lovely nano?

    Thanks and regards, Detlef

    Oh sure. I missed that, did't I?
The equipment is actually as cheap as you can possibly imagine.
The light is PL 11W 6500K hang on from China and 10W LED 10000K (also from China) because the PL is not enough and I do not have another one or more powerful at the moment. I do not really like the LED, but have nothing else for now. The lights work on 10 hours cycle.
Filtration is done by hang on Chinese filter 500L/h filled only with Eheim Substrat Pro filter media. No foam or sponges or wools of any kind.
The heating is done by a small made in China 25W heater.
All of this is the Ebay cheapies, no crazy brand prices.

The only "costly" gear in the set up are the Aquacube 40 tank and the Amazonia AS 9L bag.
