Thread: Using two glass diffusers in one tank

  1. Using two glass diffusers in one tank

I'm currently using a single diffuser in my 26 gallon tank. It sits under my fluval 205 discharge, but there's a lot of gas buildup around it. I'm going to move the diffuser away from the discharge eventually. I'd like to make sure the co2 is getting around the whole tank, and was wondering if I could use two diffusers instead of just one. It'd be the same amount of co2 going in, just through two diffusers.

    Any thoughts on this?

You can certainly use two diffusers but it doesn't seem like it should be necessary for a 24" wide tank. When I see people do this it is generally for longer and larger tanks. If you do want to try two diffusers you will need to add a manifold and a second needle valve to your regulator. Some folks add a second bubble counter too but it probably isn't important since with a diffuser you can see how much gas is going into the tank. I think you would be better off sticking to one diffuser and adding a powerhead to increase flow around the tank.

  3. I was planning on getting a koralia nano for better flow eventually. I'll have to move it up on my priority list.
