can i use excel to kill things besides algae?

Starting up a new aquarium and i don't have space for a quarantine tank in my room, putting my cleaning crew and dither fish straight into the aquarium. Before i put in any main fish (maybe discus and expensive catfish) I'd like to disinfect the aquarium but i'm not to keen on anything containing malachite green. Will a hearty dose of excel do the job? I think the tetras might have brought in some ich and maybe some other stuff, quite a few have been dying.

    Try H2O2, cheaper than Excel.

  3. A bit of thread-jack but this is semi-related to my ongoing unsuccessful search...

Tom, I seem to recall a post where you mentioned using Excel as a safe easily accessible fungicide in DIY dry mixed trace ferts instead of Hcl. I was looking for the post to get the recommended Excel:X ml ratio. Can you (or anyone who knows) point to the post or use this method and share the ratio?

Excel /Easy Carbo are both generla biocides. So is H2O2.

Ones a lot cheaper and easier to locate.

I hadn't though of H2O2, which I already have on hand, does that mean I could just add some H2O2 to my mixes?
