Potamogeton gayii question

My Potamogeton gayii did well for 5 months, then i discovered that it started to rot at the root and stem. it did send alot of runner and roots from above. am using EI, Co2, 4w/g, 29g, co2 30ppm
so this my second plant now suffring the first was hygro, also Micranthemum umbrosum showing some signs?
any thoughts?

My M. Umbrosum melts at the root and stem when I dont have enough nitrate in the tank.

its not nitrate for sure, am doing EI, and it is between 30-40ppm, lamote test kit and hagen both reading the same.

When the plants do very well, send out lots of runners and really do some serious growing, they also start to shade the lower parts of the plants, interfere with water circulation, and begin to need more nutrients. All of that can contribute to the lower parts turning brown, losing leaves, growing algae, melting, etc. The answer is to do regular pruning to make sure the plants get light, and don't block all of the water circulation. A powerhead addition to the tank will also help by improving water circulation, which keeps all parts of all of the plants suppllied with nutrients.
