Rosy barbs, thread algae and carpet plants

Hi! I've read somewhere that rosy barbs eat thread algae. Any experience with them? I'm already having problems with CAE and loaches uprooting my carpet plants, will barbs add to that problem too? thanks

Yes, they will shred things like moss etc, anything "furry".
They are quite good at eating algae BTW.
But less specific than say Amano shrimp.

I purchased rosy barbs to help control hair algae. In my experience, they are a handsome, active fish who love to eat Tetramin, bloodworms, and daphnia, and probably just about anything else except hair algae.

I'm sure that if they had no alternative to hair algae they would eat it, just as I would eat broccoli if i were starving.
