    Help with my Glossy carpet?

Hey all i need help getting my glossy to carpet, and stop growing up to the light?

I trimmed it once, and replanted and some growing up again, but i just trimmed it.

    Will they eventually carpet?

Currently I have an Aquatic Life T5HO fixture over my 30 gallon. Considered High Light via hoppy's charts on planted tank.

Just wondering if this is an issue of light, or if it will ever carpet?

I do have a dwarf baby tears carpet that i started with 2 corallife NO fixtures that sat right on top of my tank a long time ago, each of those fixtures only puts out 12 watts per bulb, so im still pushing out roughly the same wattage, give or take a few..

should also add im using co2 in this tank and dosing liquid fertz currently

Anyone who is an expert with this stuff I would appreciate any help

It could be light, but also insufficient CO2 can make Glosso grow up. I'd try to add more CO2 and see what happens.

well i did recently get a new in-line diffuser and it is working much better than my previous diffuser, and i got a new regulator..

Ill see how it goes, but i have 2 6500k bulbs so I would think it isn't all my bulbs..

    ill see..

Ive been reading old posts by Tom, and others from around the planted tank sites and everyone says to continue trimming it til it carpets?

This was the case with my Bacopa australis at least? it wanted to grow to the light until i kept hacking it, and eventually it just carpets..

Would glossy do the same since it is a stem plant?

What is the length of the tank and what are bulb sizes and no# of bulbs??

Tom, my tank is 36'' wide, but my glossy is on the middle left of my tank, in the front left center of the tank.

I have 2 bulbs in my fixture, and they are both 39watt 6500ks T5's. They are those Fulham bulbs i mentioned in the lighting thread that i was trying to find a spectrum for. The lights are 33.5 inches long roughly not counting the prong's. Idk if that matters.

If there is some other info you need let me know.

Any ideas? im soon switching over to your EI dosing method as well.. part could be from nutrient deficiency as well on my part..

It is not the light then, most likely CO2 and trimming is needed.

    Hi
As Tom says it is a CO2 problem, but it can also be a flow/distribution problem. Maybe you don't have enough flow down there.
I had the same problem and I have been told that when carpeting plants grow upward, that means flow and distribution is not adequate in the lower area.
I have now made modification to my flow since 2 weeks and it working.
better flow + better CO2 will certainly help.

    Hope that it will help.
    Cheers
