Daily CO2 change and starting point

As a basic starting point since I'm still early on in my 240g, if my pH is 7.58 after a couple of days in the tank with no CO2 and I get it down to 6.50 when my CO2 is up am I likely in the ball park of where I'll LIKELY need to be? I realize monitoring flora and fauna long-term will be the best method but would like to be reassured that I'm probably in the ball park. I have 3 drop checkers in there right now just to search for dead spots and so far all of them are at least full on green and in some locations light green to light yellow. Fish all appear very healthy.

I think that's a good place to start. Watch the animals at end of CO2/lighting period. If they are happy, you can give the metering valve another tweak to increase CO2. Don't tweak it more than once a day from your current starting point.

Sounds good. They are fine so far, and plants are starting to take off, but I've seen problems develop before after 2-3 weeks and I want to avoid that if possible. Probably being over cautious. This is my first planted tank this big and also first that has involved a sump.
