That's the risk you take for a bargain. Honestly I paid $235 for for a $1000 regulator on ebay, and it's in perfect shape (it was new). There are good deals to be had, but if you want to sleep better at night, you can pay for one from an authorized dealer--it'll have a factory warranty.

$59 for a new Victor two stage VTS253 regulator reminds me of how the prices were a few years ago. If I needed a regulator I would buy it. Here is a VTS253D-320 that I built using an ebay regulator that was about the same price.
