    Jumping fish

    Hi all,

I tend to keep wierd hours esp where I am up until 2-3 am local time Like now for instance...

So, just now the 2 cats were play fighting in the office while I am online. No biggie so I sat to watch. Then noticed that when they bumped into the tank stand, that 2 cardinals immediately jumped onto the floor. I noticed this before the pre-occupied cats thankfully, and I was able to rescue them.

Tom and I discussed my pencil fish and their tendency to jump when scared as well, esp at night.

I do find a good number of fish fries (usually the smaller ones or where they knocked them too far under the couch) and wonder how much the cats are working to get their little snacks

On a serious note however, this appears to be my biggest fish loss esp for the pencils. That said, I find rummy and cardinal fries as well as diptail fries...

I have two rimless tanks as well and the water is easily 1-2" below the top on both....
    Thanks,

    Gerry.

    Hey Henry,

Didn't know mollies also went airborne....When my school of SAE got large, they went over one a week for 3 months until they were all gone.. Not sure where their communication got crossed...but was NOT to their ultimate benefit...
    Thanks,

    Gerry.

I built a 9" shrowd over the top of my one open top tank and then adjusted my light down from the ceiling just above the now raised opening. My old SAE still managed to split the difference to his demise anyway, which ultimately saved me from tearing my tank apart to catch his now unproductive ass.
