    HC melt?

    Need some help here. I have a DSM started tank that's been flooded for a little over 2 weeks now. I have started to see some areas of the HC carpet that look like this:

    Anyone know what would cause this? water conditions are just right, no algae anywhere, other plants are doing excellent in the tank. dosing EI :
    gH = 4
    kH = 5
    N= 20-30 ppm
    P = 1.0-2.0 ppm
    CO2 = starts lime green@ lights on, yellow@ lights off. lights @50-60 par/10 hrs day.

    Thanks in advance!

    Red face Has The Military-Industrial-CO2 Complex Coopted Biollante?

    Hi,

    O goodness gracious,
    I hate to be the one to say it…

    That looks like CO2 deficiency…

    I tend to associate that with circulation issues.

    Is this a new tank and are you using any Aqua Soil?

    I will try bumping up the CO2 and see if that helps. circulation seems good, all plants waving and blowing around.

    10 weeks of DSM, soil is MTS.

    Thanks!

    What drop checker liquid solution are you using?
    If it gets mixed with the water = it will not tell you any exact Co2 values
    Only use KH3 or KH4 Drop checker solution that will not get mixed with any water.

    You also, may take a look at the roots and how they are looking.
    I don´t know MTS soil, but I know that with some ADA Soils it sometimes happen that HCC, Elatine hydropiper & so on sometimes melt during the first 2-4weeks, but not in each Soil tank it happens - still in some tanks. This issue normally "dissapears" soon (most ppl. make during the first weeks with soil many water changes) and may have something to do that Soil is a nature product and their composition may vary from charge to charge.
