    20 Gallon Long scape

Well here is a 20 long that was a catch all for me. I used it to hold fish for another tank when it's ready. I had plants and DW just floating around in it. Well I got tired of looking at it like that, and decided to get up and do something about it.

I had plenty of plants available and used them. hahahaha 1/3 of it is a combo between eco complete and AP.com substrate and the other 2/3 is sand. The plants I used will grow in low light. I used various types of anubias...nana, petite, and coffefolia. I also used java fern and narrow JF. There is crypto wenditti in it along with some rotala indicia for color.

Anyway here are some pics and let me know what you think...

    Thanks

    JJ

I like the use of anubias behind the stones. Almost like a beach scene.
What is the plant behind the anubias by the java fern?

I don't know what it was, but I lost most of my fish stock. I had a nice skoal of panda cories, all gone, and 6 of my 8 blk angels gone! It's been a few weeks since a loss, and decided to add some new blood. I was at Henry's shop and purchased 15 green neon tetras. They look amazing!

The plants are very healthy and growing in nicely. The anubias is already growing new leaves. Stay tuned...
    Thanks

    Hey JJ,

That is too bad about your fish....R U sure nothing changed? they all died overnight, over several days, ???? I dunno, but 6-8 angels is too many for a 20 gal IMO.... I know they were not full size, but they are big eaters/poopers, so a filter can be overwhelmed and nh4 spikes, and then.....

If I may suggest to add something to the right side of the scape? It seems a bit out of balance to me... But what do I know?
    Thanks,

    Gerry.

There are two filters on there. One rated for 55 gallons and the other for 30. They died over several days. Everything seems under control, for now, so this is the reason I added the tetras.

You know I was thinking about adding a carpeting plant. It's low light and no CO2. Not sure what I could go with. Any suggestions? You know a lot my friend. I like picking your brain for answers.

I lost a skoal of 10 neon tetras, so I had them test the water. It was perfect.

I did remove the charcoal from the filters, and wanted to go all biological. Maybe this played a roll in the deaths. Not sure. Anyway I will continue to work on it and only keep small fish in it. The current skoal of green neons are max size of an inch, so plenty of room.

I will later add a group of micro cories in it to keep the small fish theme.
    Thanks

    Thanks

    Here ya go Gerry...

Well I took your advice and did the right side. I had a few small pieces of manzy and used them. I also used the same kind of rocks that I had used on the left.

    Plants Used

    1. Blyxas Japonica
    2. Narrow Leaf Ludwigia
    3. Ech. Vesuvius

I had some left over AquariumPlants.com substrate that I used. It is a rusty red color, and it picks up well on the rocks and manzy.

I've also added a total of 25 green neon tetras and 10 Ember tetras. They do not get very big and look great together. They also skoal very nicely! They already seem to love the new planted area.

Here's some pics of the right side. Hope you enjoy as much as I do...

    Thanks

    JJ

Thanks Gerry! I'm really happy with the way it turned out! I was even able to use the triangles rule with the manzy.

I need to work on the path and get it out of the middle.

Here's the triangles. I used snip tool to do it, so lines aren't very straight lol...
    Thanks
