Thread: Starting new tank.

  1. Starting new tank.

So im staring up my 50g planted. The plants are being shipped right now and should arrive in the morning. I was gonna move some plants from my 10g to the 50g as well. Lately ive benn getting a little bit of green algae on the plants and gravel. If i put any of these plants in the other tank do i run the risk of having algae take over that tank. I was thinking as long as there are alot of plants in there, and i dont run the lights too long at first it should kill whatever algae is on any of the plants. Im also going to but dosing it with excel.

    Smile Floaters...

    Hi,

I routinely “float” plants in other tanks with no problems.

The plants may well help clean the tanks as well.

Smile Mosses, Ferns & Most Algae Do Not Like Excel

    Hi,

Lace java fern, assuming Microsorum pteropus ‘Windelov,’ is a primitive plant and I do not recommend dosing Excel at all.

With the Oriental Sword, it should not make much difference.
