I can stick a diffuser under the intake of a canister filter and have it sucked up into the filter, IF the filter can handle it. Lots of ways really. A lot depends on what you like.
Misting, etc...
A fork seems to work very well for seperating wool from roots.
I'm with Greg. I don't obsess over every little spec of wool. It's a good idea to remove any large, empty clumps of wool if you...
I would imagine it doesn't discriminate between helpful and harmful bacteria so be sure to keep an eye on ammonia levels, etc to help you stay on top of the condition of your biological filtration,...
Hi riverrat.
I'd suggest floating fast growing plants in the tank. They'll add to the biomass and also block out some of the light. That should go a long way towards deterring algae growth. If...
I'd say no. It isn't necessary and roots can tangle in it.
It depends on what you want to try. The two I have experience with are Seachem Flourite and ADA Aquasoil. Of the two, I prefer...
Don't sweat it. It isn't an issue.
I usually try to squirt my ferts into the jet stream from my filters, just for good measure. If you have good enough water movement for a healthy tank you have...
Xanthid, Jeff over at Aquarium Design Group | flash detection (ADG) can answer your ADA substrate volume question.
Your dosing sounds pretty good to me. You're dosing about what a high light, high growth 20g tank would get but your plants aren't high light plants and your light isn't very high light so they...
Well, there's Aquasoil and then there's Power Sand.
Amano puts Power Sand down as a first layer and then covers it with Aquasoil. Power Sand acts like substrate fertilizer and Aquasoil acts...
I dunno what it stabilizes at. I don't measure my Ph or Kh in the tank.
Yup, Aquasoil can initially release NH4. Many people suggest doing water changes every 2 days or so for the first week...
Aquasoil messes with ph and kh. I started out using Flourite and have switched all my tanks to Aquasoil.
I'd suggest using Aquasoil and use the drop checker/KH solution method to measure Co2.
Is there a reason you're shooting for a PH of 6-6.2?
You really can't have it both ways without either Co2 or a lot of trouble and fluctuation with adding acids. That's why I'm asking. Wondering...
You'd need to mix your RO and tap in a ratio of 150:1 to get your KH to 0.1 which is that 2 ppm.
Using baking soda, Sodium Bicarbonate, adding 1 tsp (tea spoon) (6 grams) to 50 liters of H20...
