It's a beauty, but doesnt he uproot your plants?
As far as I know it's only certain species that actually need a low KH/GH and some do seem to benefit a little from it. I've been hearing this for quite a while aswell and in my own expirience it...
Looking healthy and good, I like this set-up quite alot!
Of course, im talking about your tank. I love it!
Holy sh*it Gerry! I havent followed your thread for a little while and now this scape, I really love it! Good job man!
I'd go with sand or gravel with an open structure, something along the lines of pool sand and such. Just add some clay or osmocote near the crypts and try to get your father to do his water colum...
I've run full EI with CRS without any problems, I also have some bee shrimp caught in the wild by Chris Lukhaup and even those do fine and breed.
On a side note tho, the shrimp in my tank are the...
No problem, goodluck finding it!
I think it's a Rotala rotundifolia 'colorata' :)
No3 limitation is cheating and risky. You need lotsa nutrients in the first place. Second place comes lighting, increase it slowly while keeping a close eye on the nutrients (Co2 included) until you...
It's all displayed in their 2006 product guide, lighting and filtration included. I dont know if it's copyrighted so I wont upload scans or pics of it on the public part. If your search comes up...
This plant has been around for quite a while in the Netherlands. It's even native to Europe, heck I even know a place where it grows in Germany but since it's protected I can't legally collect it....
Lovely pictures, I have the B. motleyana but looking to expand my collection. They simply look awesome!
Congrats man! And that without a Lotus sp. 'cliché' :D
He's absolutely right, there is no one disagreeing with that but as he also said; some species do require soft water. Species like Tonina's and Syngonanthus, perhaps even L. pantanal really dont seem...
I've seen cases where excel killed it off. I've also come across it drying out in open tanks with very low humidity in the room. (Which is strange when there is an open tank of water).
Fishes...
And what exactly is the problem with that? ;)
Do you dose excel or a similar product?
Is it an open or closed tank?
I like the tank, I can see the Dutch influences combined into a more nature like scape. Especially the wrapping of the reds with greens around them really brings out the colour.
Anything that grows faster than I want to be pruning in a low light setup haha. Apart from that I like most of the common plants, even weeds can have their charm if you don't count maintenance.

I've seen this presentation, it's really worth it. Beautifull pictures!
To be honest, it's not my thing. I am a big plant and nature lover and this just doesn't look natural, I was hoping for a bewilderd city look. This looks, well empty and not natural. Plants don't...
I personally love (old) Nature scapes which are inspired by nature and not directly copying it and a Iwagumi every now and then just a little above a Dutch scape, but that's personal favor. But I...
Same here, I'm a big 6500K fanboy since i'm not that fond of mixing bulbs with different colours. Worked well in my aquarium, paludarium en ripararium, greens show very nice and red will still be red.
