I purchased my a pair of dachshunds four years ago and they are called Jack and Jill. Jill who is the lady of the manor is only seventeen pounds and Jack comes in at 19 pounds. Someone elses misfortune was my luck as the last owners passed away 3 years ago about a year apart. I had no intention of fostering these wieners. The amazing thing is I have had four litters to date. .I cant imagine a more friendly breed of dog after owning them. I was truly pitiful being away when Jill had her 1st litter. . I didn't understand she was so close to having the pups because when I got her she was already pregnant. When I arrived home I found one pup on my lounge. When we got home we discovered more puppies behind the toilet and one wasnt breathing at all. I am not sure what happened but when we returned one of the puppies was veiled behind the toilet and wasnt breathing

Jill was petrified of her little gruesome bundle of dachshund joy aka her dachshund puppies . We put her down on the ground and place the pup next to her so it could try and suckl. . After an hour or so she took to the pup and let it lay next to her, cleaned it and let it feed . At that stage we were fairly confident that the pup behind the toilet was the only one left.

Three hours further on after such a painful day we decided to turn in. Jill and her newborn dachsund spent the night with us in our room so we could make sure everything was ok. . At last when they were both happy my husband switched off the light so the four of us could turn in for the night. However just as he was turning the turn off he thought he could hear a little screech .

He tardily glanced behind the door as he didnt want to frighten anyone. . Much to his surprisal he came across another newborn pup lying in the bed. Jade was slobbering it all over making sure that it was alright. Jade is an 88 lb rottweiler so to say my husband was gobsmacked would be something of an understatement.

Jade had to have an operation when younger so was never able to have a dachshund . What is really odd is that she does have milk when Jill has baby doxies. Jill is only too glad to permit Jade feast her new litter when they arrive into the world. They regularly lie by her side. Jill couldnt care at all as she knows the puppys are in really good hands with Jade. Skippy,Jill and Jade insist on sharing the same bed all the time, it keeps us happy as well so we dont have to get an extra bed.

The miniature dachshund has a lot of sitters. . They constantly leap onto Jade who seems exalted with all the attention she gets. All she does is waggle her tail and puts her hand on them to mess with them . The pups throw themselves at Jade and she leaps back. She has never harm one even by mistake big as she is .
