Smile tom, i was just told by an aquarium service co.that not to use glass cleaner on outside of glass,that it will penetrate glass and kill your fish. is this true? i've only used water to clean glass. regards,cornhusker

Hmmm. I use windex and spray it on the Paper Towels and clean the glass 5-6 times a week. (my 3 year old loves putting her face up against the glass).

No deaths so far.


75G Planted,Pressurized CO2, ADA ,TEK T-5 Lighting (6X54W)
55G Planted, Shrimp only (Mix),P.CO2, eco/moon sand, 55WX2 AHS.
20G planted, Shrimp only(B.Bee), P.CO2, eco, 55W AHS kit in jebo fixture.
6G planted, Shrimp only(Tiger),P. CO2, eco, 14W AHS kit.

You do not want any over spray, but NH4, is in fact a plant nutrient and a tiny bit is not going to cuase any issue.

But NH4 soaking through the glass?
I suppose some still say the earth is flat..............

If they any research showing this to be true and what flow rates NH4 can penatrate glass at various thicknesses, I am all ears.

If they have/had issues with this, it's becasue they over sprayed and got it into the tank, didn't wipe it down etc like fools. Not because it soaked through the glass.

That was good one for a laugh.
I do and have done mainteance PT for many years on the side.
