co2 tank - 04-16-2005, 03:52 PM

Just a matter of interest
How long should a 5 lb tank last? With normal use.

WolfenxXx has a 5lb on a 46gallon bowfront that he got filled last July and I
talked to him today and he says it's still going strong. It's what I'll be getting
so it will fit in a 24inch-high tank stand.

It depends what you mean by normal use hadog. It will last half the time at 2 bubbles per second compared with one. Leaks in your system use far more and make sure you are using CO2 resistant tubing.

umm I have gone through a tank in about a month!!

How do you test for leaks....it is an awkward apparatrus with the gauges etc?

I have some co2 resistant tubing on the way.

A strong solution of washing up liquid and water, paint around all joints above water and watch for bubbles. There is seepage from none CO2 tubing also, but you shouldn't see bubbles on this.
