Hi all,

I have the double ended HQI bulbs from current USA for the outer orbit fixture.

They are 150 watt at 6500k.

Having trouble finding them.

Are these double sided bulbs interchangeable from the different mfg? Can I replace brand a with brand b as long as the wattage and type/temp of bulb is accurate?

I know the k rating is more for us, but I like the 6500k. Seem to have a lot of 10k and 14k available, but the 6500k is hard to find.

I have a dozen or so folks that I've gotten them from.
I liked Watergrass.net's bulbs, you can get any color you want from them.
Art in the USA also has good pricing and decent deals.

These are cheaper bulbs etc, but I really do not think you get that much more out of them based on a light meter reading.

I had the German Aqua medic 10,000K bulbs and measured and there's not much difference.'

Folks make claims and market them as "better", and hedge their bets that no one will measure them with PAR meter I guess. Color temp preferences has a lot to do with the rest. That's a personal choice there.
