glosso pruning - 05-12-2008, 03:51 AM

What's the best way to prune glossostigma?

Mine has been growing like crazy and has grown back over itself several times. I therefore have a 2" thick "lawn" all along the front of my tank. Some of the leaves on the lower layers are beginning to turn yellow, so I think some pruning will be necessary soon.

I could easily pull off long strings of the glosso, since the upper strings have very little of their roots reaching the substrate.

I think I should have done HC instead.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Ted

You mow like you would a lawn.
Same for HC.
Same for Hair grass.
Same for most foreground weeds.

Trim to 1 to 0.5 inches.

Thanks, Tom, I'll give that a try. I think some "angled" scissors would make this job much easier ... I'll have to get some, if they exist.

Larger cheapo scissors work better and you can mow better.
Hair cutting scissors are good as well.

how long do hairgrass have to get before getting trimmed? mine seems patchy though its been growing since february.. i only had trimmed them once at that was before planting them.. now, they are just a little over an inch but are still spreading, quite slowly i think..
