Phos-Buster Pro by CaribSea - 04-23-2008, 04:43 PM

Has anybody ever used this? I got some bad Eco-Complete that has my Phosphate levels sky high and i am looking into using this to drop it since it works relatively quickly. I want to make sure it won't adversely affect my plants, though. TIA!

You can return that bad batch of EC and they will refund and send you new EC.

Just email them and tell them your situation.

So i've heard, but honestly i'd rather just treat the water and lower the phosphate than dig it all out and replace it. Do you think the phosphates will keep spiking even if i lower it with something like Phos-Buster?

The most efficient I have found is the ROWA-Phos. Bare in mind that for our general purposes with planted aquaria a phosphate remover may as well be poison. Be very careful not to let any spill out in your tank or filter, and DO NOT dispose of it openly. Discard it into a sealed container. Most filter medias are pretty benign, but phosphate removers are "The gift that keeps on giving" when openly exposed to an organic environment. Personally I'd deal with it a half doz. ways before grabbing ROWA-Phos HTH. Prof M

This is the long term solution.
Another is rapid plant growth/good health
Short term: water changes.

Leave the PO4 removers to Reef folks.

I assume the rapid plant growth/good health solution would invlove raising my NO3, K, and CO2 levels so the PO4 can be utilized by the plants?
