Nice rock layout and method:

I've done this in the past when I used more rock scapes and did not have plants.

But it could be done and made to look very nice with some foreground plants.

I agree that the rock-scaping is nice but the tank looks so bare and brown. Also the cardinals seem out of place. I think it would look better housing medium-large CA & SA cichlids. Many cichlid owners achieve a nice look with styrofoam backgorunds.
