Question the case for algae inoculation of new tanks - 12-15-2007, 03:38 AM

I've read about this concept in various threads recently, namely algae inoculation of new tanks, or in other words the purposeful introduction of algae from one source or another into a new tank, generally by means of a cleaning pad. The pad is used to clean algae in one tank that has algae, then the pad is wiped on glass or decorations in the new tank.

So what's the logic in this? Why do it? Why NOT do it?
