Does anyone have experience with this plant? I have seen Tom post some info about it on another forum but it wasn't clear if he has actually grown it before.

The reason I am asking is because my experience with this plant thus far is very different than anything anyone has ever posted about it.

I have a bunch of it.

It's actually the only Cryot in my personal tanks.

It likes less light than most Crypts.
Only then wil the veins come out nicely.

I have mine in a 10g tank with a 36w AHsupply light, unshaded, in flourite, dosing EI and it grows pretty fast. (not as fast as wendtii but deffinately faster than petchii). I have only had it for about 4 months now and it has put out about 15 leaves (only keeps about 6-8 at a time) and has produced two babies each of which has at least 4 leaves already.

As for the veining the veins are deep red, actually it lost the white veining when the last emersed leaf came off about a month ago.

The only thing I don't know is actually how big my plant is under higher light compared to under lower light, the leaves only get about 6-8" long. The new leaf growth comes out completey maroon on the underside and stays that way, while the top will turn a dark olive green.

Has what I described conflict with your experieces, because it seems to conflict with what I have read and been told about the plant.

Less light, give the plant some shade.

It'll do better in softer water, ADA AS etc.
