reptile cork bark as background - 05-30-2007, 01:10 AM

Hello,

I have been exploring different backgrounnd material from prefab (some European stuff looks great) to DIY foam+concrete, etc. I have seen many posts about using cork as background.

My LFS has real cork bark sold in their reptile section, some pieces would be great to hide input/output tubes. Some even look like hollow tubes which would be perfect for this.

Figured I'd ask the aquascaping gurus! Would this type of material be suitable?

Thanks,
growitnow

just to follow up. after my earlier searching around i'd seen posts indicating cork will fall apart and rot as well as 'it works fine'. hence my question here.

thanks

Both cork and wood will eventually rot under water. But, when I had pressed cork tiles as a background for several months it didn't seem to deteriorate. I didn't like it and got rid of it, but not because of deterioration.
