Hetrnanthera melting - 04-19-2007, 08:58 PM

Hi everyone,
After a cruel pruning I performed on my Heteranthera zosterifolia all the new buds and remaining leaves started to turn transparent and die. (picture attached)This is after months that it has been growing wonderfully. I have pruned it in the past with no ill effects.
Things I changed more or less at the same time: I moved to using CO2 injected into the filter's outlet (mist) and changed my iron and microelement fertilizers (from Seachem to a cheaper locally made fertilizer).
Interestingly, buds that are shaded by some Crypto leaves are growing beautifully while those exposed to light are rotting. (I haven't changed the lights).
All other plants in the tank are doing great, no algae etc.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance,
Matan.

Well at slower growths, eg, less light, the plants are doing fine...........

So that would suggest prior, you have adequate higher levels of CO2, perhaps NO3 as well from the sounds of things.

I have one of those plants and it got so big an bushy that it would block the light from the lower leaves throught the plant and those deprived of good light would start melting and withering away!

It is a delicate plant that will produce white flowers when growing well.. mine did and it look awesome in the tank!

A plant that requires attention and proper pruning IMO
