What would be the benefits or problems to aging AquaSoil? I need to use appx. 4 parts RO/DI to one part tap in 80gal tank. Tap water is between 27-29 Kh. What would happen to tank, No WC or once a week, no plants (plants added after a couple of weeks) with all systems running except lights? Seems this would give the tank water params time to stabilize. Please steer me in the right direction.

Thank you for replying.

John.

The aqua soil will be leaching ammonia which is good for starting the cycle in the tank. I typically like to plant heavily right away so that algae doesn't set in. You will want to do water changes two maybe three times per week for the first few weeks.

Can you use aqua soil past 6 years old in a bag, or recycled from an old tank?

Its clay based, no science explanation behind that, all I know is nutrients deplete and you'll have to dose a heck of a lot more....Go ahead and reuse it though, there must still be some nutrients still in there...
