Hey all,

Well, as the scape approaches the 2 year mark, it is time for a change :) I LOVE my current scape and it has been a great learning AND viewing experience. I sit and watch it for hours :)

Tom has nudged me via e-mail and I responded with a 3 page white paper lol I outlined some goals and desires, plant species I like, and things like that. I would like to setup some auto fert dosing, a better/bigger c02 config (for say a 400 gal tank), a small auto top off for the sump, and little things like that.

So, I will start a new thread as the plans come into focus..That said, we will be using rock instead of manzy, and that is about all I can say about that for now :) We have no plans other than that so far... I like the darker/textured stone so will see what comes up. Tom is out collecting stone now, so he will have several types to pick from I think.

I will use the cardinals, more plecos (for algae control), and a few more dwarf cichlid species, along with more ottos. Shrimps and snails as well.

I want a more open look. More Iwagumi, but much less structured. I am sure Tom will come up with a unique design that I will love.

Should go better this time as I understand more about c02 now, and things are going well now, so a change of scape should not toss things off much. That said, I will replace the substrate and start fresh. May use ADA again, but this is under discussion.

I will continue to have the same 360 viewing, so this must be taken into account as before. While there are main POV, it will still be a walkaround config.

More as thing develop.

So I'm thinking about doing an aquascape that spans say maybe 3 nanos. Not sure of size, but like something you could spread apart a few feet. Maybe 2 or 3 feet apart. Also, I'm thinking about a sump design to allow all 3 boxes to share the same water volume. This will be a real pain depending on how small of a tank I use to break it into nanos. I'm quite fond of 2x2 cubes, but thats not exactly a nano in my book. Especially when you got 3 together like that. So I was thinking something around size of a 10 gallon standard maybe with total display volume around 30 gallons plus whatever for the sump.

But what I'm thinking is definitely something marine themed, but the idea is to carry the eyes across the 3 tanks as if you cut out 3 sections of the same scape and moved it apart, or maybe the space between is as if you cut out a part. Not sure, still thinking. Hmm... I've seen people build bridges between tanks, but what if you hide the bridge? Hmm... whats that long box Mr Aqua makes? Er I think thats the manuf?

More on this later.

Planning out a 40g breeder (36x18x17) and I can't decide on the layout. I'm not starting this until I move in a few months, so there's no hurry. Here are some pics of what I've come up with thus far. For flora, I want to plant rows of each stem species between the roots (starting low, gradually getting higher) and neat edged Eleocharis acicularis round/square patches, or a solid foreground. I'm basically going for Refined nature/Dutch/Japanese garden-ish....um..with roots. The plants I have to work with now are: Cabomba Red Furcata, Myriophyllum tuberculatum, Myriophyllum Mattogrossense Green, Rotala Macrandra, Rotala Indica, Echinodorus angustifolia 'Vesuvius', and Alternanthera reineckii, and Micranthemum umbrosum. Of course I don't have to use all of these, but I got em if need be.

So which is best? Thanks in advance!

BTW, all these pics are oriented top down first, then front view second
