Hi all,
I thought i would try out the blog section, and describe how i have made my own 4dKH solution.
What you will need.
- Sodium Bicarbonate
- Suitable container for at least 1000ml
- Lab ware 500ml measuring cylinder
- Demin/RO water
- 500ml sample jar
Method.
First measure out 1000ml of Demin/RO water using the measuring cylinder (remember to take the reading from the bottom of the meniscus) and transfer to a clean container.
Now weigh out 1.2grams of the sodium bicarbonate, i used a calibrated balance to 4 decimal places, but 2 decimal places will do.
Mix to the 1000ml Demin.
This has given you a 40dKH solution.
Now take the Measuring cylinder and fill up to the 450ml mark with Demin/RO and transfer to a 500ml sample jar, next add 50ml of the 40dKH to the same sample jar.
You now have 500ml of 4dKH solution.![]()
