Dosing for my 55 gal. - 03-15-2007, 05:54 AM

Hello everyone,

I'm finally getting ready to start with EI dosing on my 55 gal. tank. I am wanting to do all dry dosing as that should be easier for me.I wanted some others to look over my numbers just to make sure I haven't messed up somewhere along the way.I have a digital scale for measuring out the dry ferts

Sun,Tues,Thur.
KNO3 =2.80 grams
KH2PO4 = .30 grams

Mon,wed,Fri
Csm+b = .5 grams

sun 50% water change

I have a drop checker with a 4dkh standard
Co2 30ppm

Lighting is 4x65 watts
Lighting schedule is
Front bank for 4 hours = 130watts
Both banks for 2 hours = 260 watts
Back bank for 4 hours = 130 watts

Does this all look ok? I'm open to any advice so let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Sounds good, I'd only maybe add some GH booster, about 1/2 teaspoon to 3/4 tsp after the water change and perhaps switching to TMG instead of CMS+B.

What type of substrate do you have?

Thanks for the help so far Tom.
What will GH booster do for me? Sorry to have to ask still new to all of this.
Well I just bought a pound of the csm+b but I can look into the TMG.
As far as my substrate the is a thin layer of flourite,then I added about 6 flourish tabs and covered that with 50 lbs of pool filter sand.
Thanks again!

Gh booster adds Ca, Mg and K+ namely.
Added just to rule out any potential deficiencies.

Sand should be about 30 grit or 2-3mm. Smaller is bad generally.

Thanks Tom.
Well the pool filter sand is about 2-3 mm so I should be good there. When I set up my 15 gal I used this back sand that was almost like a powder,what a pain. I learned my lesson on that one. I will pick up some Gh booster as well, just to make sure I don't run into any trouble.
Thanks again!

Yes, it's now part of the Tropica Aquacare line of products and comes in two versions:

Plant Nutrition Liquid (this is the old TMG)

Plant Nutrition Liquid plus (has added N and P)

If you want the new TMG, make sure you don't buy the "plus" product!
