Does it matter how you add ferts? - 12-24-2006, 08:03 AM

I know this might seem like a dumb question but does it matter where/how you pour ferts into the tank?

I know that the fert/solution will disolve into the tanks water but should I just dump it in or pour it around evenly? My 130g tank is kinda long, I was curious if I dumped my ferts all in the same place every time would the plants at that location grow more than the ones on the other side of the tank, does that make sense?

Thanks!

Don't sweat it. It isn't an issue.

I usually try to squirt my ferts into the jet stream from my filters, just for good measure. If you have good enough water movement for a healthy tank you have good enough water movement to adequately distribute your ferts.

I've never noticed improved growth in the areas that I use to dose ferts. They don't stay in one place for very long. Even in a nano with no filter or pump, when dosing iron (dark color), the cloud quickly breaks up and disappears.

It's always nice to have one more thing not to worry about.
