When I dose my FE I get water discolourization for a few hours. I use GW FE chelate. Even if I dilute it somewhat. It eventually polishes out, but I didn't get that same discolourment from the Seachem FE and I have my mix the same strength. Anything other then Carbon in the filter counter this?

Have you tried TropicaMastergrow?
It produces the least amount of weird preciptates.
Something else is occuring if you have discolorment froma trace, preciptation etc is the only realy thing perhaps that will effect water coloration.

I've added 2-3x he suggested max amounts of traces without nissues on many tap water types, often harder waters have more issues.

I think what he ment was not so much a discoloration from preciptation... but rather the solution is so "strong" I guess you could say... that after doseing, it leaves your tank water with a bit of a tannin stained look because of the color of the Iron chelate.

That really isn't the best way to describe it but I know what he means because I use that product also in combination with my normal traces... and it really does leave the water "stained" after dosing

Yea I get the same thing.... It isnt horrible... but it is enough to make you desire a more "crisp" shine to the water.... I dont really know what would help with it... I was thinking about trying some purigen, but I really don't know how much of an impact it would have day to day.... over the course of the week though Im sure it would help polish things up a bit

Greg and I are looking into some different Trace mixes that we may sell to folks.

I have issues with CMS personally, but it does work, few would suggest otherwise.

I prefer TMG, but cost is going up and the cheap macro fert approach is not fully implemented which is something that I would very much like to resolve.

So I am looking at the moment for a very specific aquatic plant solution for the trace dry mix.

I'll be much cheaper and I should have less issues with it.
It'll be a few weeks, maybe months, but it'll happen.

It's the only fert that folks spend any real $$$ on. So is behoves me to to try and find a way around it.

Most everything else is very acceptable and very cheap.

sounds great. I don't mind paying extra $, if I did I sure wouldn't have decided to plant a 90g . Perhaps I will buy the TMG next order, I just bought 3 lbs of CSM+B so when I run out I'll try the other. Anyone on this board from the Toronto Ontario area? I want to rescape my tank but the BAs around here dont really have a great selection of plants and it's very expensive to import from the US. Plus with customs there is no guarentee they will arive alive.
