using hydor airo airator with co2 - 11-10-2006, 09:18 PM

Im always looking for a new toy. i was walking thru a fish store, and saw a hydor airo airator its a little powerhead with a venturi type gizmo on it and it sucks air in and chops it up into super tiny bubbles so i thought to myself, self what if i connected my co2 to that . Works great i got the one without the light of coarse and put it under my filter the tiny bubbles are blown around everywhere .
Yes the famous super tom barr mist method that works so well . Has anyone else used this same thing so far great results was only 18 bucks . yea i could build one but like i said im always looking for a new toy.

Here is a better photo of it in operation:Aquarium Air Pumps: Hydor Ario Turbo Air Pump. I haven't tried it, but it does seem to be a simple way to inject CO2 into the inlet of a powerhead so the rotor chops the bubbles into tiny ones. If I were not so happy with my DIY Venturi reactor I might try this.

I like it as a concept because it "sees a problem and finds a solution" - even though it is not aimed at us CO2 injectors, it solves that problem and at a very reasonable cost. And, like you I am a sucker for gadgets! The idea that you can bury this thing in the substrate is really intriguing.

yea its woking good still i didnt bury mine as ocassionaly when it shuts off with lights a small mts snail will get in the impeller . I just put it in the back of tank under filter outlet behind plants. If anyone gets it dont get the one with the led you dont need it and IMO its tacky.
