View Full Version : Lighting Schedule w/ EI? Longer/Shorter? @ 3.9wpg
I am currently setup to give lighting for 11 hours/day. Is that about right based on the high dosages with EI? I have 3.9wpg if that helps. Recommendations?

11hrs is fine, less would not hurt, but, make sure you keep plenty of nutrients in the water column during the entire photoperiod, KN03, KH2P04, TE, C02, to accommodate for the lumens :D
Think 10 hours is more realistic?
What is TE? Traces I assume?
I am going by the dosage amounts you provided for me over on PlantedTank Forum. Figure it will be enough :)
I asked in a seperate post as well, but since you were the one saying to dose 10ml 3x per week of CSM+B, what is the mixture solution this is based on?
GW says 1 TB / 500ml
TB says 2 TB / 500ml
So, I could be underdosing by 1/2 since I have my current stock made by GW website.

10hrs is fine also, I run mine 12hrs most times.
TE=Trace Elements
That dosing schedule should get you right as rain. once you get going good with it, then you can see how things grow, and work out you're own plan...which will not be to far off from what it is now, adjustments may need to be made for whatever reason's.
I use smaller bottles, 250ml to be exact+1Tblsp, so ya 2Tblsp to 500ml.
Dose half one week then full the next, see what works good for you, how the plants respond etc...just make sure you have enough of all the needed nutrients in the water during light cycle. :gw
Good to know :) I was at 1/2 strength on my current stock.
I always dose in the morning (well, almost always :) ), so should give plenty of nutrients the whole day.
Thanks for your help!

You can make your stock solution any concentration level that you like ... if you add more to the same volume of water, you will simply have a more concentrated solution ...
On a purely *personal* basis, I think that Plantex CSM+B tends to get a little "gunky" at higher concentration levels ... so on my website, I have a little article titled http://www.GregWatson.com/HowToDosePlantex.htm ...
In *that* article, I recommend a 1 Tablespoon mixture of Plantex CSM+B and 1 Tablespoon of Magnesium Sulfate in 500 ml of water ... I also then note that this is a weaker concentration than Flourish ... so for comparable dosing, you need to dose at least 1.25 times ...
You could simply make your solution more concentrated ... many people do ...
The disadvantage of making a weaker solution, is that not everyone will catch that they need to dose a higher quantity ... you did, you were smart enough to ask <grin>!!!!! So congratulations to you ... you can make your solution at any concentration level you like and adjust your dosing accordingly ... preferably always higher <grin> ...
Thanks,
Greg
