Siamese Algae Eater's laid eggs!

I have had SAE's for 10 years now. The current trio I own I've had for maybe 5 years. Anyways, I noticed tonight that there are eggs on an alternanthera leaf with little eyes inside and the SAE's are constantly keeping watch and perching next to them. Anyone have any links to information about SAE spawning and what to expect from this? I was quite shocked as I just lost a filter a few days ago and the water has been unfiltered and somewhat still and today after setting up my new canister after about 4-5 days of not having one on the tank the SAE's have eggs!

Very cool. I've read a number of times that SAEs don't breed in captivity. You must have them fooled. ;)

I have really old test kit that is probably not accurate but...

pH is 7.2-3
kh is 2-3
can't remember any others off the top of my head
I had stopped CO² injection prior to noticing the eggs but have since started it back up since I got my new filter running.

What is crazy is that I just moved the tank from one house to another and did a roughly 75% flourite gravel change and 80% water change a week and a half ago. Then my eheim 2028 died that was supposed to keep my beneficial bacteria going during the big change in water and substrate. But since that died my ammonia actually spiked a little and I lost a few other fish. Maybe the SAE's got stressed into breeding?

oh well.... eggs gone saw some fish picking around the area. Must have been eaten. :(
