New question for you old timers!
I am lookin at filters, the big 3 seem to be Eheim, Filstar, & Fluval. Form personal acounts, & reviews... it seems that the Fluval is out the window. So that brings it down to the Mercedes of Eheim, & the more economical Filstar. To me, the Rena Filstar XP 3 seems to give the best bang for the buck... However, I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with the Penn Plax Cascade Canisters??? They look nice, but I have been unable to find any opinions on them anywhere...
If you all have an opinion to share in regards to any of these filters, please post them!!! I would love to reach a higher level of enlightenment before I commit to a purchase!!!

There are many pretenders but only one Eheim (range). Quiet, efficient and long lived. I can't exactly remember how long ago I bought my 2213 original but it's at least 20 years. I've never replaced any part except the media. Still going very strong. If I ever need another filter you would have to produce a very convincing argument to make me stray from Eheim, even if it was twice the pretenders price.
Old timer signing off now to have a nap.

IMO the Filstars are the best filters in thier price range. If money is no object then get an Ehiem.

I have Via Aqua's, no issues.
I do not like the Fluvals.
Ehiems are good.
ADA has some 380-500$ canisters:-)
There are other things when you get into these price ranges(Ehiems).
I like sumps for larger tanks, canisters for 75gal or less.
