I used them before I switched to T5's. They worked great in my fixtures. I know they work in fixtures that fire T8 bulbs but not sure about T12's. I have a couple older shoplights in my garage that will only work with t12 bulbs, I've tried to put t8 bulbs in them and they wouldn't fire up.. Maybe thats what you have? Just a thought!
