I have been perplexed by some information and I was wondering if anyone can give me some insite to this.

I have seen that plants use NH4 easier and I have seen that they use NO3 easier. I have also seen that heavily planting a tank from the beginning can help to use up the NH4 and maintain a safer tank for those that cycle with fish.

Is there a preference by the plants for ammonia vs. nitrates?
