Setting up a Denitrification System using Seachem's De*Nitrate. According to Seachem:

There are two types of denitrification that can occur: ammonification and anoxic denitrification. Ammonification results when there is no oxygen and anoxic denitrification results when there is low levels of oxygen. Both result in the conversion of nitrate to nitrite and then eventually into nitrogen gas which can gas off. Ammonification can create ammonia as the final product.

Seachem Post/Response
I am looking for a Layman's explanation on Why these compounds are converted back to Ammonia and/or Nitrite and then rendered harmless? I am assuming it has to do with the conversion created by the Specific Bacteria that grow in the low/no oxygen environment. Is that Correct, or am I way off-base?
Any Insights would be Greatly Appreciated.....!
Thanx!
